SHIVA FLOW is:
Shiva Flow is a contemporary form of Yoga founded by Silvia Romani, based on the practice of asanas concatenated by a fluid and uninterrupted movement.
Each sequence tells the myth linked to the asana peak, or the asana in which the sequence culminates. The main features of the sequence are:
- inconsistency of the sequence to the told myth;
- progression of the chosen asanas to reach the peak;
- fluidity of movement.
The sequences represent the myths and legends of the Indian cultural tradition. Movements and positions, combined with ad hoc selected music, tell the story of the characters and allow the practitioner to capture their essence in body and mind, projecting the evolutionary path from the physical to the cultural, psychological and spiritual level, generating a meditation in movement. At the end of the practice, a deepening of yogic philosophy is proposed, starting from the story itself.
In this kind of practice, one’s own limits are dealt with in a soft and loving way. They are perceived, seen and heard, but the focus is not on overcoming them but on accepting them and, above all, on welcoming them. By respecting and welcoming its own limits, sooner or later, every person will probably be able to overcome them. And even if it does not happen…well, you did not miss anything, because you still realised and experienced the magic of your body.
The practice of Shiva Flow wants to celebrate the joy and lightness in an activity where body movement and energy flow are full of openness and pleasure to practice. The direction of communication is from the inside to the outside. From emotions to the body. It is the body that expresses the emotions that already live inside or that the practice itself can arouse.
